usually early December
What is it about? During the time of the Maccabees Antiochus and the Greeks had defiled the temple of the Most High and made it law that the children of Israel could no longer follow the commandments of the Most High. The Greeks also stole the vessels from the temple and began to profane the temple by sacrificing swine and other abominations in the temple. The Feast of Dedication is in remembrance of how Jonathan Maccabee lead our people into fighting against this tyranny of the Greeks and us rededicating the temple to the Most High once we gained control over our land again.
How do we celebrate it? We are to feast and have a Holy Convocation to the Most High and read through the scriptures that pertain to how we regained control of our temple.
How Christ fulfilled this Holy day:
‘The Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands..’ (Acts 7:48). We instead are the Most High’s temple (1 Cor. 3:16-17; 1Cor. 6:19-20). This Holy day signifies that we must now dedicate our temples to the service of the Most High as Yashaya did.
John 10:22, 2 Macc 4th Chapter, Acts 7:48, 1 Cor. 3:16-17; 1Cor. 6:19-20
Thank you so much for your explanation of this Holy Day. I've been trying to figure out how to keep it. I've never kept this feast as I have the others. Does this begin Friday Eve or at Sunset Sunday? Not doing anything outside of the Sabbath until I know for sure.
